I lost a pet what do I do?

Check with Pasadena Humane regularly. Also, get large bright colored poster board from Michaels or similar and post posters in your neighborhood with an image of the animal and your contact info.

I found a pet what do I do?

If the animal has contact tags, attempt to contact the owner and return the animal. If not, it may be chipped and any vet can read the chip and find out the registered owner. Otherwise call Pasadena Humane and they will either come get the animal or give you instructions about dropping the animal off.

By law, if you can't locate an owner you must surrender the animal to Pasadena Humane. They will put the animal on hold, and provide an intake number. They may allow you to foster the animal at your house. If you wish to adopt the animal after the lost animal hold period, you will be able to at that time. They will provide a chip and vaccines.

Discovering Info By Chip Read / Reregistering your pet's chip

If for some reason you have a chip read and need to determine where it is registered, the |AAHA chip meta registry can look up the chip number and tell you which registry has the info. The registries won't typically give out contact information except to participating veterinarians and animal control, but at least you are a step closer. This can help if you need to change the registration info on your own pet but can't remember which company has the registration for your chip. You can then contact the correct registry and try to update the chip info.
